Mary Helen Ryder, 90, formerly of Washington Township, died Monday, Aug. 29, 2022, at LGAR Rehab Center. Born Dec. 28, 1931, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of John and Mary (Kowalski) Pietrzak. She spent the first 40 years of her life near her birthplace on the South Side, moving to Washington Township in 1971. Mary Helen was a homemaker who became a clerk at Kaufmann's in Monroeville after the kids left home. She moved to Apollo Beach, Fla., returning to Pennsylvania seven years ago. She is survived by her three children, Merrilee Gilbert (Tom Yesovich), of Turtle Creek, Kimberly Williams, of Washington Township, and Bill (Becki) Ryder, of Bristow, Va.; and grandchildren, Ashley Williams, Jennifer Williams, Drew Ryder and John Ryder. She was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Ryder. Graveside burial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2022, at Greenwood Cemetery in Lower Burrell.
