George E. LaRock
September 28, 1935 – September 3, 2022
On September 3, 2022 George “Ed” LaRock peacefully left his home in Curwensville to be with his Lord and Savior. Born on September 28, 1935 in Curwensville to Anthony “Pete” LaRock and Caroline (Korb) LaRock. The youngest of seven, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Howard, Bill and Bob and three sisters, Mary, Sara and Alice. While serving his country in the United States Navy stationed in Panama City, FL, Ed met his “southern belle” Joyce Wimberly. They were Married in Florida and upon his honorable discharge from the service, they returned to Curwensville where they made their home for the past 61 years. Ed was known for being a hard worker, always ready to lend a helping hand where needed. Over the years he was involved in several businesses in the coal and clay industry, owning his own trucks and excavation equipment. Ed eventually retired from North American Refractories while also running his own active sawmill on the side. Ed is survived by his wife Joyce, his daughter Cindy Sheppard of New Church, VA, his daughter and son-in-law Stephanie and Ron Matthew of Woodland, PA. He is also survived by two granddaughters Amanda Roane and husband Scott of Fredericksburg, VA and Chelsea Long and husband Jerad of Crisfield, MD and three great grandchildren. At Ed’s own request, there will be no viewing or services. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Cherry Corner Bible Church, 155 Nellies Road, Curwensville, PA 16833. A devoted Husband, Father and PopPop, he will be deeply missed.
