Wilkes-Barre, PA at the age of 91. He was born in Scranton, PA to the late John & Margaret O’Brien. John retired after 30 years of service as a Deputy Fire Chief for the City of Jersey City, NJ. He is an Army Veteran serving 2 years during the Korean War. He lived life to the fullest, he had the greatest smile, he loved to travel extensively, loved dining out, loved the mountains but most of all he immensely loved his family.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Peperno; his four daughters; Kathleen Rubino (Robert Rubino); Barbara
Miller; Margaret Broad and Jacqueline O’Brien and his two sons John O’Brien, III (Michele Allen) and
Edward O’Brien; 19 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren with one on the way, Peperno Family and
extended family members and friends. Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara J. O’Brien; his sisters Sharon McNulty; Arlene Quirk and Nancy Dooley; his brothers Gerard O’Brien and Dennis O’Brien; his grandchildren, Jeneen Nacion and Taylor Miller; his great-grandchild, Logan Marvel; his sons-in-law Kevin Miller and Bernard Broad. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025, from 3-6 pm at Shore Point, 3269 NJ-35, Hazlet, NJ 07730. And on Friday, April 11, 2025 at 1:30 pm at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 612 Mount Olivet Road, Wyoming, PA 18644 .
