We regret to announce the passing of Dorothy K. Witke of Baden, Pennsylvania on August 25, 2022. Dorothy passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her beloved cats Romeo and Betsy. Dorothy was pre-deceased by her husband Alfred and son Werner, and is survived by daughters Barbara and Monika, and grandchildren Erika Hofer and Alexander Roth. She is also survived by her grand-nephew Dirk Thomsen of Ziethen, Germany and by her other extended family in Germany where she was born.

Dorothy attained a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy and worked and taught in the mental health field. She was a master gardener and enjoyed raising fruits, vegetables, and herbs in her home garden. She was also a volunteer at the Vicary House in Freedom where she shared her love and knowledge about plants, weaving, and much more.

Dorothy was loved and admired by her co-workers, friends, neighbors, and family for her independent spirit and generosity. She was grateful to all who assisted in helping her achieve her goal of independent living in her home.

Arrangements were made by the Cremation Society of Pennsylvania. A memorial service will be announced by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Beaver County Humane Society in Aliquippa, PA or to the National Audubon Society.
