Theresa M. Girio

Theresa M. (Staccone) Girio, 87, of Williamsport, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at RiverWoods Senior Living Memory Care, Lewisburg. She was born June 17, 1934, in Williamsport to the late Lavinio and Phyllis (Natale) Staccone.

She adored her family and enjoyed cooking and entertaining. A longtime employee of the A&P supermarket in Newberry, she loved her work and made many friends. Later in life she became a demonstrator for various products at different stores. Socializing with people was one of her favorite activities, and she had an easy way of holding pleasant conversations with complete strangers, saying, "It never costs anything to smile."

Theresa was a lifelong member of Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church in Williamsport until its closing. She then became a member of Mifflinburg Church of New Life when she moved to Elmcroft Senior Living in 2018 and met Pastor Butch Woolsey.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Philip; three brothers, Michael, Anthony and Louis; two sisters, Anna Marie and Louise Ricci; and her beloved niece, Rose (Staccone) Cohick.

Surviving are her two daughters, Marie A. Girio Brummett and husband Edward Martin of Blain, and Anna Marie Girio Bennett and husband Lewis of Danville; two grandchildren, John Travis and Katherine Theresa Bennett; and a sister, Mary Ann Cowden and husband Norman of Duboistown.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at Mifflinburg Church of New Life, 8700 Buffalo Road, Mifflinburg, PA 17844. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. with the service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the giver's choice.
