Jerold L. Highfield
April 12, 1946 – September 2, 2020
Jerold L. Highfield, 74, of Harrisburg died Wednesday September 2, 2020 at the Helen M. Simpson Rehab Center while recovering from surgery. He was born in Cincinnati, OH and lived in Kentucky and Lancaster prior to settling in Harrisburg.
He proudly served his country from 1962 to 1966 as a Marine and later retired from Bethlehem Steel and G & B Specialties. He attended J.P. McCaskey High School in Lancaster. He loved going to the casinos, especially in Atlantic City, watching golf, Penn State football and the Phillies, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed going to the Front Street Diner, where he ate every day with his wife.
He was preceded in death by his in-laws Thomas H. and Anna T. Suknaic James and his brother John Highfield.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Barbara James Highfield, his daughter Tiffany A. Atkinson, one sister, Jean Eichelberger (Donald), his grandchildren Jeffrey M. Sponenberg (Rachel McClain) and Kirstin N. Sponenberg (Josh Smith), his great-grandchildren Hunter Bair and Maya Sponenberg and his best friend David Cox along with his nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held by the family.
