Eleanor C. Panagakos
November 1, 1936 – February 2, 2021
Eleanor “Ellie” Clare Panagakos, 84, of Dallas, Passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, February 2, 2021.
Eleanor was born in Wilkes-Barre on November 1, 1936, a daughter of the late Edward Gryskevicz and Mary (Vassel) Gryskevicz. She graduated from Lake Lehman High School in 1955 and resided in Kingston for over 20 years with her husband and two boys before moving to Dallas in 1988.
She worked for over 10 years at the Miner’s National Bank in Wilkes-Barre later known as the United Penn Bank, but her real joy in life was taking care of her family, her house, and her yard. Ellie enjoyed her country home with the wildlife frequenting her back yard. Every day the vast species of birds would visit the feeders she placed out for them. Among her favorite birds to watch raising their young in the many bird houses she placed throughout her backyard were the chickadee, nuthatcher, finch, and wren. Ellie’s beautifully landscaped property was her pride and joy, which she worked hard all year round to maintain. She would often take long walks in “her woods” as she called them, stopping on the way back down to sit on her swing and admire her gardens.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, William Panagakos; and her siblings Edward Gryskevicz, Bernard Gryskevicz, and Bernadine Kropp. Surviving are her son Gus William Panagakos and wife Lissa Panagakos of Dallas, son Steve William Panagakos and wife Stacie Ball Panagakos of Nanticoke, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
