Anita Alice MCGRATH
February 24, 1932 – October 26, 2020
Anita Alice Greer McGrath, 88, peacefully passed away at home on Monday afternoon, October 26th, surrounded by her loving family. A Morristown HS (NJ) graduate in 1950, she was affectionately called “Nita” by friends and “Neetsie” by her family.
While in school, Neetsie was involved in the Arts, including Choir, Dramatic, Thespian, and Stage/Make-up clubs, and rooting for the home team with good friends. Just a few years later she would marry her life mate Edward Philip McGrath, and they would settle in the Alpine section of Union Township, NJ, to raise their two sons. In between her homemaking and chasing after her two boys, she regularly enjoyed playing tennis, and tending to her many flower gardens. In 1991, she and Eddie moved to Towamensing Township, PA, so she could assume full time Grandma Duties, and head Cheerleader for the grand kids with their Marching Band, Choir, School Plays and Concerts, Soccer, 4H, etc. Neetsie was very happy watching their growth into young adults, with careers and families of their own.
She loved to read, but maybe more so to travel, with special memories of a six week exploration of her ancestral homelands with Eddie, including visiting family in Ireland, Scotland, and England. She could also be seen tailgating at Giants Stadium on any given Sunday morning over the years.
Neetsie was the 2nd of 6 siblings including Franklin Richard Greer, James Joseph Greer, Susan Jeanette Greer, Sharon Adele Greer Maund, and Maureen Lorraine Greer Kopocis.
She is survived by her sister Maureen, her sister-in-law Teresa Lynch McGrath, her son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Linda Buday McGrath, her son Jeffrey, retired Lt., Union FD, and wife Denise, her cherished grand kids, Cristin, Tim, Meghan, Kerry, Evan, Dana, Milan, and great-grand kids Aiden, Sadie, Riley, and her many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Until we meet again…we love you Neetsie.
