Lew’s family meant everything to him and he was the rock of his family. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Marie J. (Risell) Wolfe, three children, Lynda Gehris (Bill), Cindy Fogarty (Jay), and Colleen Wolfe (Eileen Hickey). He was Poppy to four grandchildren - Jennifer, Christopher, Shelby and Ryan and a great granddaughter Sakaani.
Lew was the youngest of six children born to Hunter and Emma (Pennypacker) Wolfe. His siblings Hunter (Hope Mitchell), Polly (Harry Levering), Richard (Dolores Lasota), Emma Jean (Bob Ferrier), and Allan (Gladys Smith) all predeceased him.
Lew was born in Gulph Mills, PA until the road took their home and they moved to West Conshohocken when he was in the 5th grade. He resided in West Conshohocken for most of his life and on Moir Avenue for the past 54 years. He was a lifelong member of the George Clay Fire Company. Lew was on the West Conshohocken Recreational Council, and along with others, located and purchased the current Keith MacKenzie Park, (Bullock Ave & Church St). When the recreation council and borough council merged, Lew became an original member of this newly formed organization called The West Conshohocken Recreational Board.
Lew Wolfe was a Christian man that lived by the principles of “do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. He was kind, gentle and willing to help all without hesitation or judgement. He liked to tell a story and even if it was already familiar, you would find yourself laughing along with him.
Lew served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1960-1966. He was an E-5. He was based in Lakehurst, NJ. as well as the south of France where he was out to sea much of his deployment. Lew received high praise from his commanding officers for his time served.
Lew was a church going man and belonged to the Primitive Methodist Church of West Conshohocken as well as the Gulph United Church of Christ in Gulph Mills. He humbly served many positions within both churches over the years.
Lew was a business owner and provided for his family by running his pool companies- Wolfe’s Pool Service and Lew Wolfe Pools. His voicemail said- “Hi, this is Lew Wolfe, the pool guy.” He told his daughters that once he started working with pools, he knew that he would do it for a long time, and that he did for over 50 years. He was in business for himself for over 30 years.
Lew enjoyed his family and extended family, golfing, vacationing, eating (three square plus some snacks!), relaxing with his friends, watching Philly sports (Go birds!) and of course his pools. He was well loved and respected by his family, his community, his workers and friends. Lewis Wolfe will be deeply missed by so many.
