Lawrence embarked on his educational journey at Saint Raphael Academy in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, and furthered his studies at Providence College and Boston University, where he cultivated his passion for philosophy. This passion led him to a distinguished career as a philosophy professor at the University of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and Immaculata University. Additionally, he worked in sales at Brooks Brothers Clothing, showcasing his versatility in professional endeavors.
A devout Roman Catholic, Lawrence was an active member of Saint Thomas More Parish in Pottstown, PA. His faith deeply influenced his life, especially his commitment to charitable causes. Lawrence was a devout monk of Trappist Saint Joseph's Abbey in Spencer, MA for ten years. He was a fervent supporter of the Pro-Life Union, reflecting his values through extensive volunteer work.
Lawrence's involvement in the community was multifaceted. He served as a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus and a Chester County Republican Committeeman. His hobbies included gardening and landscaping, which not only beautified his surroundings but also provided him with great personal satisfaction.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife Lucille R. Moran, daughter Christina M. Dougherty, parents John H. Moran and Elise (Morin) Moran, and siblings Elise Gagnon, David Moran, John Moran, William Moran, and Mary Moran, Lawrence's legacy continues through his son, Hugh B. Moran; son-in-law, Joseph Dougherty; and granddaughters, Andrea Dougherty, Elizabeth Dougherty, and Magdalena Moran.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10am (visitation 9am) on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at Saint Thomas More Parish Church, Pottstown, PA 19465. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Pro-Life Union Inc. of Greater Philadelphia at 88 Pennsylvania Ave, Oreland, PA 19075, or online at prolifeunion.org. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him as a man of profound integrity and unwavering faith.
