The family of Jay Harold Jacoby of Pottsville is saddened to share his passing on March 10 at the age of 81. Always friendly and willing to lend a hand, Jay will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Marilyn “Lu”(Shaffer) Jacoby of 34 years; sibling, Dick Jacoby; children, Donald, and Janice; stepchildren, Brad (Kim), Penny (Louis), and Brian (Deb); 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Born and raised in Pottsville, Jay tirelessly served at the Humane Fire Company for over 50 years. Jay also served in the U.S. Navy from 1960-1964. Working at Capitol Trailways for 15 years and Deka Battery 18 years, till his retirement in 2004. He enjoyed fishing on his boat and working part-time at Hess Caterers till 2017.
A military honors funeral will be held on Monday, April 24th, 11am at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA. Arrangements entrusted to the Cremation Society of Pennsylvania.
