Ed was born December 26th, 1938 to Edward O’Mara, Sr and Laura Simon. He was an only child.
He was a lifelong baseball aficionado who was himself an amazing pitcher. He was the winning pitcher for LaSalle High school in the 1955 Catholic League and City championship .
Ed met his wife, Nancy in NYC and borrowed a dime to buy her a drink as he thought she was the prettiest girl he had ever seen.
He spent his career making Catholic school uniforms and was one of the hardest workers on the planet. He coached his sons in baseball and spent summers in Sea Isle City and winters learning to ski.
After a serious car accident at the age of 60 he became progressively blind. He had multiple challenges in his health but was known by all as a man of great gratitude. When asked how he was doing, a common response was “I don’t have a complaint in the world.”
He is survived by 4 children and 8 grandchildren. Kathy O’Mara (Elias and Donovan), Brady and Jane O’Mara (Ellie and Dylan), Jim and Lisa O’Mara (Quinn and Conor), Mike and Heather O’Mara (Shane and Luke).
A celebration of life is in the planning stages.
