Brian Raymond Tarasi, 61, of Sewickley, Pennsylvania was called to eternal rest on August 26, 2024. He was born to Patricia and Louis M. Tarasi, Jr. on January 20, 1963. He was a cherished son, brother, friend, and husband-to-be.
Brian’s early education was at St. James School, followed by Quaker Valley High School. As a German exchange student in high school, Brian’s experience there ignited his quest to travel the world and influenced the rest of his life. His pursuit of knowledge continued at the University of Pennsylvania where he earned degrees in Economics and Geology. His academic excellence paved the way for a distinguished 33-year career with American Airlines. Brian wore many titles at American Airlines, such as Manager, Purser, and German Speaker. However, his most significant contribution was instrumental in developing the Chase Training Program for flight attendants, a testament to his leadership and dedication to the airline industry. As the wanderlust he was, his economics and geology studies enhanced his love for aviation, travel, history, astronomy, and nature, leading him to explore countless cities on multiple continents throughout his career.
Brian’s comprehensive encyclopedic knowledge made him an expert in every conversation he held. Every person who had the pleasure of meeting or getting to know Brian was a better person for the opportunity. His genuine care and concern were always evident. He had a special gift, and he shared it with everyone. He was the most sincere listener and an avid conversationalist. His quest for knowledge was never ending as he studied the Bible, history, the military, vocabulary, and many other subjects.
As a faithful servant, Brian’s first love was to God as a devout Catholic. He practiced his faith with enthusiasm and grace, a commitment that comforted and reassured those around him. His dedication to his spiritual life was as steadfast as to personal wellness and fitness.
Brian is survived by his fiancé and life partner of 20 years, Yvonne Kass, and his three surviving pets who he called his “daughters”; Miss Jett, Aspen Skye, and Sophia. His loving mother Patsy; his siblings Susan (Jay) Sherbine; L. Michael III; Beth (Tony); Patricia (David) Mantelmacher; and Matthew (Chris); his nieces Sarabeth, Emma, and Eliza; and his nephews Teddy, Ben, and Aidan. He is preceded in heaven by his father, Lou, who passed away on December 30, 2023.
A service in Brian’s memory and celebration of life to follow will be provided in due course. Brian’s life was a testament to love, respect, faith, and the pursuit of knowledge. His memory will continue in the hearts of those he touched forever.
In honor of Brian’s memory and the blessing that he is no longer suffering in pain, donations can be made to the American Pain & Disability Foundation at www.4apdf.org.
