Mary Lou was born in Philipsburg, PA on April 30, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Edward Coleman and Helen Holderman Coleman. She graduated from Clearfield High School in 1945 and the Penn State University College of Education in 1949. She subsequently taught English and History at Clearfield High School for three years.
Mary Lou moved to Lancaster in 1959 where she became active as a volunteer serving as Girl Scout leader, member of the board of United Way and president of the board of the Mental Health Association. For twenty years, she delivered Meals on Wheels to the Lancaster community. Mary Lou was a long time member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Lancaster, where she was active in numerous roles including the vestry. Mary Lou had a cheerful personality which was exhibited in her love for her family, church and community.
Mary Lou was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Donald J. Wain, and her brother, Edward C. Coleman.
She is survived by her son John C. Wain and his wife Joan E. Wain of Fairfax, VA. , her daughter Christine W. Leibel and her husband Joseph H. Leibel of Dresher, PA, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
