Born on May 18, 1931, he was a son of the late Herman and Ada (Gossler) LeVan.
Fred's working career was in telecommunications. He started in the Sales Department of The Bell Telephone Company of Pennsylvania. Through further assignments, he transferred from Bell of PA Headquarters in Philadelphia to AT&T Headquarters in New York City. He retired from there in1989 as an External Affairs Director with 35 years of service.
He was a member of Saint Catherine LaBoure Roman Catholic Church in Harrisburg, PA, a Life Member of the Penn State Alumni Association and Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity in State College, The Telephone Pioneers, The American Legion and The Sons of the American Revolution. He served in the United States Navy in the time of the Korean War.
Fred is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Marie (Murray) LeVan; three daughters- Christina Marks (Philip) of Rhode Island, Elizabeth Baker(Thomas) of New Jersey and Susan LeVan of Maryland; three grandchildren - Benjamin and Amanda of Rhode Island and Michael of New Jersey; a brother, Robert of Mechanicsburg and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Harry.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of his life will be held at Saint Catherine LaBoure on Thursday, September 28th at 10:00, www.sclhbg.org, followed by a reception at the American Legion Post #272.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Catherine LaBoure Roman Catholic Church or any charity of one's choice. Interment will be private.
